This frosting is great for anyone looking for a stiff crusting buttercream, which is perfect for decorating with. It is easy to flavor with almost everything including spices, zests, chocolates, dried fruits, liqueurs and much more.
When I am making cupcakes for children, this is the buttercream I turn to. This frosting is known to be extremely sweet, so it is not for the faint of heart. If you are looking for a buttercream that is not quite as sweet and on the looser side, you can definitely make this frosting by adjusting the amount of confectioner’s sugar you use to about 4 cups instead of the suggested eight. Just remember that if you do this, certain designs and decorations may not work as well with a looser consistency. If you are looking for a sweet, simple frosting – this is the frosting is for you!
